The first is with a hand of 16 against a dealer's up card of 10. You should stand if the count is over 0 and hit if it is 0 or lower.. Almost all basic strategy variations rely on the true count, but for those where the decision number is 0, the runningΒ ...

Blackjack buffs really hate a hard 16 against a dealer's seven- through ace-up.
This, whether the 16 is a 9-7 or 10-6 two-card combination, or a larger set such as 7-8-A or 5-3-4-4.
And the antipathy is well warranted.
These are the weakest positions in which players can find themselves.
They're blackjack strategy hit or stand on 16 perplexing because everyone knows "the book says hit," yet doing so seems suicidal given that the odds of busting are an adverse 8-to-5.
And even surviving a draw doesn't guarantee winning or pushing unless the five happens to appear.
Besides, who wrote the book anyway, how blackjack strategy hit or stand on 16 they know, and what's to say the casino bosses didn't pay them to put in things that make players lose?
So, 16 against a high upcard being between a rock and a hard place, just how bad is it to stand?
Further, assuming you're tempted to stand, are you better off doing it with some dealer upcards than others?
And, if so, which are which?
The answers are in the numbers.
After all, besides luck, that's what gambling is about.
The numbers for the two-card 16s are shown in the accompanying table.
Entries give expected loss per dollar bet when standing or hitting, and the penalty for the latter, against each upcard.
Data are for eight-deck shoes with "playable" 10- or ace-up.
Playable means the dealer doesn't have a blackjack, since the decision would be then irrelevant.
For the cynically inclined, these figures are not made up based on what certain oracles think, or what the bosses say, or what some guru concludes after watching lots of games and jotting down results or tabulating millions of simulated virtual hands; they're found by a "combinatorial analysis" using a computer to increment through and count each and every possible outcome.
Expected losses and penalties per dollar bet, charts strategy standing on or hitting hard 16 versus dealer seven- through ace-up 0.
Next worst, less than half as bad, occurs against seven.
From there, it drops with rising up-cards to under a cent on the dollar, nearly nothing, with a dealer 10.
So, if you're to stand at all, do it against a 10 where the mathematical misery is the least; this will happen on about half of your 16s because the shoe has blackjack strategy hit or stand on 16 many 10s as it does sevens, eights, nines, and aces together.
And, for reasons that the numbers should make obvious, don't even think about standing on that 16 against an ace.
comment gagner de largent au blackjack table also contains items of interest to solid citizens who want insight into the game and not simply a cookbook of recipes when to do what.
For instance, the losses on standing increase as the upcard goes from blackjack gto through nine, then fall slightly at 10 and rebound sharply on ace.
This effect reflects the chance of the dealer completing a hand without busting, best with ace then nine, 10, eight, and seven in that order.
This phenomenon tracks the impact of the levels at which dealers are apt to finish when they don't bust, lowest when showing a seven and highest a 10.
As completed dealer totals get higher, they become more difficult to beat.
The theoretical costs of flouting basic strategy don't follow either the chance of the dealer busting or finishing at a high level, though.
They depend on the differences between full tilt blackjack rules two.
Other than against an ace, the penalties fall as the actual expected losses rise.
Trade-offs like these make blackjack tough to second-guess and show the danger of applying qualitative logic to quantitative problems.
They also explain why so many players wonder whether Basic Strategy really makes sense.
The poet, Sumner A Ingmark, envisioned the essence of the enigma like this: Most systems for gambling are artful delusions, Applying the numbers yields different conclusions.

Podcast: We speak with Matt Cutts about leading the United States Digital Services and the role software can play in government.
I'm try to program a blackjack strategy which makes use of a predetermined chart of moves given the dealer's upcard and the user's hand total.
The version I'm implementing only allows hitting and standing β€” no doubling down, splitting, or surrendering.
Furthermore I'm forcing the dealer to keep hitting until his total is greater than or equal to 17 here so no soft-17 rule.
I've looked all over and haven't been able to find a chart that meets these specifications β€” could anybody help me get one?
Edit: As Hymie pointed out in the comments, splits are not always a hit.
A close approximation would be to use the same rules as if pairs 6,6 8,8 etc were just treated as though they were their totals 12, 16 in those examples.
Generally speaking, if the dealer card is 7 or better, you draw to 17, otherwise you draw until 12 and stand otherwise with some exceptions, notably 12 vs dealer 2,3 Not sure https://allo-hebergeur.com/blackjack/blackjack-media-group.html you allow soft-totals for the player.
Ah thanks - I was just bit hesistant to replace doubles and splits with certain moves.
I'm not a blackjack player normally, but I'm pretty sure there are situations where you would blackjack strategy hit or stand on 16 a pair of eights but stay on 16.
There are several strategies.
Code them all preferably blackjack strategy hit or stand on 16 />Now start a sequence of simulations and compare the results for each strategy.
You can then drop the worst and add adaptations of the winners.
Until you are satisfied by the result.
For the final product, use some of the winning strategies with a probability similar to the result.
This way you eliminate the predictability of the strategy.
I understand the intent but I feel like this answer isn't helpful and is better suited to being a comment.
This isn't a programming SE, and the asker clearly stated the way they're making the software which is blackjack strategy hit or stand on 16 use a predefined strategy lookup table.
And it makes no sense to try to make the strategy "unpredictable".
I have never heard of a version of blackjack in which the dealer has any discretion, let alone is trying to adjust their strategy based on the player.
Simply ignore the chart for pairs and treat, say, a pair of 8s as a 16.
Then treat "double or else hit" as "hit," and "double or else stand" as "stand.
You should start with highest total i.
The expected value of holding a particular total is the higher of the expected value of hitting and the expected value of standing.
For instance, if you're trying to decide whether to hit on 17, you'll want to know what the expected value of getting to 18, 19, and 20 are to calculate the expected value of hitting and standing.
